چکیده
Abstract Aim The incidence of bleeding complications in laparoscopic surgery are low. At present, there no national guidelines on pre-operative blood group and antibody screening (G&S) patients undergoing emergency surgery. aim this study is to establish the intraoperative requiring transfusion during appendicectomy. In turn, will indicate necessity routine preoperative G&S. Method Retrospective data collection all appendicectomy procedures at a large tertiary hospital from January 2015 2020 (5 years). Patients having or open were excluded. department records used identify any receiving intraoperatively. Results 1362 performed 5-year period. 4/1362 (0.29%) received products. Of these, 3 had known haematological disorders. One patient was transfused for associated with miscarriage. Conclusions No required surgical haemorrhage. small number predictable because pre-existing disorders clinical status. Our one largest series available results demonstrate that G&S not justified. Instead, selective approach would ensure high risk appropriately screened. event vessel injury major haemorrhage, O negative can be used. Furthermore, we estimate elimination second sample could have saved our institution approximately £2500 per year.

متن کاملAppendagitis following Diagnostic Laparoscopy and Laparoscopic Appendicectomy
Appendagitis is an uncommon clinical entity, often not recognised, and mistaken for more serious infective conditions. We describe a proven case of appendagitis which occurred after confirmed appendicitis. We postulate that this condition can coexist with appendicitis and indeed may be the result of coinflammation. This has several implications. Firstly, clinicians must retain an index of suspi...
متن کاملLaparoscopic appendicectomy in mid trimester
Appendicectomy is the commonest non obstetric indication for surgical intervention during gestation. Laparoscopic approach is proven to be superior to open surgery in gravid patients with suspected appendicitis. It excludes other pathologies that can mimic appendicitis and entail pregnancy risks and remove the inflamed appendix at the same setting which is therapeutic. We report a case of acute...
متن کاملA Study of Open Versus Laparoscopic Appendicectomy
Background:Appendicectomy has been the treatment of choice for acute appendicitis. Since advent Laparoscopic appendicectomy (LA) has struggled to prove its superiority over the open technique. This is in contrast to laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which has promptly become the gold standard for gallstone disease. Open appendicectomy (OA) has withstood the test of time for more than a century. The...
